Breezy Point's Slipy files to represent state Senate District 6

BREEZY POINT — Denise Slipy announced her candidacy for the special state Senate District 6 election and her intention to seek a DFL endorsement on Wednesday, March 26.

She filed with Crow Wing County on March 28.

Slipy is a community first responder, listing her prior roles of volunteer firefighter, corrections officer and reserve police officer on her campaign website.

In her announcement, she said she is running "to bring common sense to St. Paul."

"I will work for reform in our systems and actively seek opportunities for improvement in welfare, housing, and healthcare," states Slipy's campaign website. "I will examine our current structures and push for bipartisan bills that benefit all of us—proud Minnesotans who just want a fair chance."
